Overall, SofTrack is licensed per workstation and terminal session where services are provided.

SofTrack's Managed Assets licensing is per workstation and per terminal server session.

A workstation license is required for each workstation, including VDI (Virtual Desktops) where the SofTrack Manged Asset agent is installed. Once installed, licenses are directly assigned to workstations as each connect and report their data. Retired workstations can have their license freed and re-used by other workstations.

Workstation licenses are not installed on the workstation, each are installed on the server selected to host the SofTrack Server Agent.

A terminal server session license is required for each Windows® terminal server (including Citrix® or other solutions that utilize Windows® terminal server functionality). The SofTrack Managed Asset agent will tally the number of Microsoft® RDP/CAL session licenses installed for the terminal server where utilized. The session licenses installed will be determined by using the following powershell script:

get-wmiobject Win32_TSLicenseKeyPack

The total number of Microsoft® session licenses installed (across all terminal servers utilizing the SofTrack Managed Assets Agent) must be equal to or less than the number of installed SofTrack Managed Assets session licenses. Retired terminal servers can have their session licenses freed and re-used by another terminal server.

Your SofTrack license generally includes one year of unlimited technical support, product maintenance, new features and product training. Addtional year's of support, maintenance and enhancements are available.

If your SofTrack license is not renewed, your SofTrack installation will continue to function however you will no longer have access to product maintenance and new features or technical support.

SofTrack's software usage control licensing is per workstation and per terminal server session.

A workstation license is required for each workstation, including VDI (Virtual Desktops) where SofTrack provides a service (metering, logon tracking, quick inventory, smart inventory, auditing, and so on). There is no restriction on how many services will be provided per licensed workstation (for instance, you can meter 1 application or dozens of applications).

Workstation licenses are not installed on the workstation, each are installed on the server selected to host the SofTrack Server Agent.

A terminal server session license is required for each simultaneous session (whether hosted by Windows® Terminal Services, Citrix® or other) that a single terminal server is itself licensed for. SofTrack's terminal server session licensing is issued per terminal server; therefore the SofTrack license count must match the maximum number of simultaneous sessions allowed on that single terminal server.

For environments where multiple servers will be used host the SofTrack Server Agent (for details refer to your SofTrack technical support representative) there may be a fee for additional server agent licenses. The first server agent license is included with every order of SofTrack.

There is no separate licensing for server clusters, virtual servers or virtual workstations, each requires either a workstation, terminal server session or server license (as appropriate) as if it was a separate physical entity.
